Start with a good problem to solve

I teach an MBA creativity class and this year was exceptional. The students really dug into the problem to be solved and came up with creative answers to the question of ‘how to enrich education with AI”.

I always enjoy the interaction with the students, the jamming, the scaffolding and the idea exchange. But this semesters challenge was much more than that. When I asked the 47 students about their experience with the education journey, every one of them had a tale to tell about how the system could be improved. It wasn’t just one thing needed to be improved it was 47 different things! The experiences came from all over the world so this was not isolated to a country or culture.

This seemed like an impossible task to overcome at the beginning of the school term but as the semester unfolded, creative sparks ignited ideas that have merit. In a 12 week program you are not going to have go-to-market solutions but rather great base ideas to build upon. More exciting for me was the ability shown by the students in not only taking on this massive challenge but the students realizing that any problem can be solved.

I just wanted to say thanks to my 6810 creativity class for not only a good term and great work but for allowing me to see the bright stars start to shine. I am convinced that if you focus on solving the right problem and understand it well…then the solutions reveal themselves.
